A Seat at the Table
Jamming on F.U.B.U as i write this blog post. I feel like i have been in a constant state of mourning with the state of things in America including my personal struggles. Can i start with the Album title? 'A seat at the table '... The TABLE, often reserved for those who are considered to have both influence and power to effect change is a symbol of power and negotiation. In other words, when one is offered a seat at the table, it symbolizes an opportunity to be heard and to make a difference. Solange Knowles serves a poetic meal... worth all the eight years it took to prep. The twenty one track album was nothing short of a virtual hug, womanhood-identity embrace, independence, grief and healing. While i can relate with most of the album, Cranes in the Sky, F.U.B.U and the spoken word interludes by her parents and Master P resonated with me. Which is your fave and why?
