Notting Hill Carnival

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the carnival. The inaugural carnival was held indoors in 1959 at St Pancras townhall. However, the huge street party was first held in the London streets in 1966. The two day event held during the August bank holiday emerged as a way for the Afro-Caribbean communities to celebrate their history and cultures.

The carnival will be on this Sunday the 25th through the 26th. So who will be live at the scene? Unfortunately, I won't.

hahaha a dobby moment but yay! It's in my bucket list.

Actually, my first intro to this carnival was when I discovered Giles Moberly’s photo documentation of the carnival from 1990-2010. The 90’s being my favorite era, I felt like I had been teleported to the era just by viewing the images. I will share some of those images with you and I am definitely looking forward to catching some images via attendees. If you are reading this, do share some photos. I will be DEElighted to see.
